Senior Purchase Engineer

Job Overview: Celestix Industries is seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Purchase Engineer to manage strategic procurement activities, supplier development, and material planning for our custom wiring harness manufacturing. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing, supplier quality compliance, and efficient supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Source and evaluate suppliers for wiring harness components: wires, connectors, terminals, cables, etc.

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contract agreements to optimize procurement value.

  • Implement procurement strategies focused on cost savings, lead time reduction, and material quality.

2. Vendor Development & Management

  • Build long-term supplier partnerships and assess vendor capabilities through audits.

  • Ensure vendor compliance with Celestix’s delivery, quality, and certification standards.

  • Identify and onboard alternate suppliers to reduce risk and maintain continuity.

3. Cost Optimization & Budget Control

  • Conduct cost analysis and implement initiatives like value engineering and volume bundling.

  • Manage procurement budgets and report on savings, variances, and performance indicators.

4. Inventory & Material Coordination

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability while avoiding overstocking.

  • Coordinate with warehouse and production for Just-in-Time (JIT) material flow.

  • Track lead times and align supplier deliveries with production schedules.

5. Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure procured items meet quality benchmarks and certifications (ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, RoHS).

  • Collaborate with QC to resolve material non-conformities and ensure corrective actions.

  • Maintain complete purchase and compliance documentation.

6. Internal Collaboration

  • Partner with R&D, production, and engineering to understand evolving material needs.

  • Support New Product Development (NPD) by sourcing custom or specialized parts.

  • Coordinate with logistics to streamline inbound material handling.

7. ERP & Procurement Records

  • Use ERP platforms to manage POs, update supplier records, and track procurement KPIs.

  • Maintain accurate and auditable documentation of orders, agreements, and cost data.

8. Market Intelligence & Risk Mitigation

  • Stay current with market trends, commodity prices, and sourcing innovations.

  • Proactively identify risks in the supply chain and establish mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • B.E./Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or related technical field.

  • 4–7 years of procurement experience in wiring harness or electronics manufacturing.

  • Strong negotiation, supplier evaluation, and ERP reporting skills.

  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and cost optimization methods.
